Nils Jiptner Tickets

Dave Koz – I’m a big fan of his, I’ve been playing his music on the radio. Great quality, great musicianship, lots of heart and soul.

Jonathan Widran – “ Nils has been an urban jazz hit-maker, with his songs lingering in the top of the charts seemingly forever because they are all so picture perfect, melodic, infectious and grooving. Nils is an exciting player whose recordings achieve the rare feat of capturing the excitement he generates on stage.

Phil Perry – ” I especially like Nils’ light-fingered-luster approach to guitar playing. It was a joy to work with him.”

Guitar virtuoso Nils has been one of the most successful forces in the Contemporary Jazz genre. With 4 number 1 Hits in the Billboard Smooth Jazz charts, including the Song of the Decade 2001-2010 “Pacific Coast Highway” and the Song of the Year 2011 ” Jump Start”, he stands out amongst his peers. “His CD ‘Jazz Gems – The Best of Nils’ could easily be titled “The Best of Contemporary Jazz” and it is pure joy and exhilaration reliving these masterfully composed and produced hits.” As songwriter and producer he used his “Midas touch ” to provide hits for many artist in this genre, including Lisa AddeoGeorge BensonBrian SimpsonReza KhanAlvin PopeTony Saunders to name a few.

SLIM MAN

Slim Man won Best Jazz Vocalist in 2024 at the Coachella Music Awards. Fifth  year in a row. Winner! Winner! Meatball dinner!

The Slim Man LIVE at Vicky’s double CD won ALBUM OF THE YEAR at the Coachella Music Awards in 2021.

And his new cookbook, Slim Man Cooks Volume 2, was just released in January 2022.

So, how did Mr. Man get to this point?

Here’s the skinny on Slim Man…

Conceived on the Isle of Capri in Italy, he was born in Baltimore, Maryland.

When he was 5 years old, Slim Man saw a movie with his dad. That film was The Five Pennies, and when Slim Boy saw Louis Armstrong play the trumpet and sing, he told his Dad, ”That’s what I want to do.”

Slim Man studied trumpet for the next 9 years, and taught himself how to play piano and guitar. After studying piano, composition, and harmony at Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD, Slim Man got signed as a songwriter to Motown Records. He’s had songs recorded by the Temptations, Angela Bofill, Carl Anderson, and others.

Slim Man recorded a CD for Motown, which gave birth to his signature style–a unique blend of jazz, soul, and pop.

Slim Man went on to form the band BootCamp, who had two of the first 100 videos ever played on MTV. Those videos catapulted BootCamp into a successful concert career, performing with The B-52s, Squeeze, Split Enz, Johnny Winter, and others.

After BootCamp broke up, Slim Man organized and hosted a nationwide country music talent contest. It was during this contest that he got the nickname Slim Man. Slim’s big discovery during the contest was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at a honkytonk called Tulsa City Limits.

The guy who won the contest that night was Ronnie Dunn, who went on to win the national finals in Nashville, and later hooked up with Kix Brooks to form the multiple Grammy award-winning country music duo, Brooks and Dunn.

After the Marlboro contest, Slim Man released his debut CD End of the Rainbow. This CD made many Top Ten lists for the year, and inspired JD Considine (Rolling Stone) to write…

Biography jazz guitarist Patrick Yandall

*After his family finally settled in Michigan, as a young boy, Yandall fell in love with the progressive styles of Jimi Hendrix, Yes, Steely Dan, and George Benson. Attending a concert of Jeff Lorber as a young musician, was a life-changing moment and steered his vision towards jazz music. At thirteen years old, performed at nightclubs all over Michigan. Adult bars and venues. Yandall would learn to unite the heart of jazz with the flavors of rock and R&B. A summer music program in Boston & New York and attending Central Michigan University would help the guitarist to focus his talents on a jazz-funk approach.
*Yandall moved to San Diego in the early 1980’s. Playing in a few cover bands in the SoCal area garnered the musician some important contacts, which lead to studio work in Los Angeles for Capitol Records. This would find him a trusted place performing occasionally with the likes of Kevin Flournoy, Darryl Walker, Jervonny Collier, Cedrice Ce, Lamont Dozier Jr., Rebecca Jade, J. Michael Verta, Michael Paulo, Scott Wilkie, Carl Evans, Jr. (Fattburger), Greg Vail (Kilauea), Tom Braxton, and many more. Also working with artists like Randy Brecker, Will Lee, Joel Rosenblatt (Spyro Gyra), who played on his “From the Ashes’ CD (2004). But concentrating on his own music has always been the priority! A favored producer and featured artist, Yandall has produced and/or recorded for NBC, KUSI 51, Muzak, The Weather Channel, and various San Diego media outlets. His music has appeared in feature films like “Run” 2020,

Movies and TV credits: “Run”Fruitvale Station”, “War, Inc.” and TV shows such as “Young Sheldon” “Speechless” “New Girl” “Girls” “Shameless” “Raising Hope” “Impulse” and many more!

Session guitarwork Kevin Flournoy, Darryl Walker, Will Donato, Under the Lake, Nathan Brown, Rocco Ventrella, Jarez, and many more recording artists. He’s appeared nationally in scores of major jazz festivals and contemporary jazz venues. PBS aired a special on Patrick and his music that was aired in the Midwest. His commercially released projects have charted on Billboard, and the last 4 have been in Grammy consideration in the “Contemporary Instrumental” category.

*His focus has always been to create more music and improve as a guitarist, composer, producer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist. His music is everywhere and that has always been the goal of this serious and prolific musician! JazzBro
