30 Will Donato6:00 pm Smooth Jazz $Ticketmaster cover ![]() Will DonatoMarch 30 @ 6:00 pm One of the premier saxophone players in the smooth jazz world, Will Donato puts on a show that will keep you on your feet the whole time! Will Donato is one of music’s most dynamic performers, gifted with the ability to bond and connect with his audiences. His latest radio single “GOOD ON YOU” was a Billboard #1 hit in Winter 2022. A previous single release “INFINITE SOUL” (January 2019) has over 3.5 MILLION streams to date on Spotify alone and reached the coveted #1 spot on the Billboard smooth jazz airplay chart in 2019. A cancer survivor who truly celebrates each day and each person he meets, Will has headlined or shared the stage as a special guest at the Blue Note in New York City, The Seabreeze Jazz Festival, The Algarve Groove International Jazz Festival in Portugal, The Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, Humphrey’s By The Bay, The Capital Jazz Cruise, and Rick Braun’s New Year’s Eve. Will has performed with some of the best known musicians of the groove / smooth jazz genre, namely Al McKay of Earth Wind and Fire, Richard Elliot, Bruce Conte of Tower of Power, Steve Reid of The Rippingtons, Brian Simpson, Steve Oliver, Gregg Karukas and Nick Colionne. He has worked in the pop music genre as well – most notably with Gerald Levert, Wynonna Judd, Toni Childs, and superstar Richard Marx. His music can be heard on the number one contemporary jazz legacy hit from Steve Oliver, “High Noon” as well as on the soundtracks from several movie scores including Thelma and Louise, The Wedding Planner, Under the Boardwalk, and No Man’s Land. | 31 Open – No Live Music![]() Open – No Live MusicMarch 31 | 1 Chickenbone Slim6:00 pm Blues $5 cover ![]() Chickenbone SlimApril 1 @ 6:00 pm Chickenbone Slim has been deeply rooted in the San Diego Blues scene for 30 years, first as a bassist, and since 2011 as a guitarist, vocalist and bandleader. His sound is reminiscent of Johnny “Guitar” Watson in the Third Ward of Houston circa 1964–Chicago/Texas/Gulf Coast/Uptown Blues with an authentic 1950’s to 1960’s vibe. By mixing original blues and swing music with traditional covers, Chickenbone’s shows are greasy, down-home, and entertaining, keeping the dance floor packed all night. Chickenbone has been serving up his style of Blues throughout the Western U.S. to audiences hungry for the real deal. Since he formed the band in 2012, Chickenbone has played over 1,500 performances, from the San Diego Blues Festival (2018), Gator By The Bay, Adams Ave Street Fair and Unplugged, and on tour throughout CA and AZ. His newest CD, “Sleeper” (Lo Fi Mob Records ©2020) features ten all original modern blues songs that are soulful and unique, while adhering to authentic classic blues style. Recorded at Greaseland Studios by Christoffer “Kid” Andersen, the disc balances on the line between originality and creativity with a deep understanding and respect for blues styles and history. Along with its predecessors, “Gone” (2015) and “The Big Beat” (2017), Sleeper is picking up rave reviews nationally, and internationally. Chickenbone’s band, known as “The Biscuits”, is made up of top local and touring San Diego Blues musicians including Scot Smart or Laura Chavez on guitar, Marty Dodson on drums, and Andrew Crane on bass. Special guests on “Sleeper” include Joey Harris (guitar/vocal), Jerry Rainey (guitar/vocal), and Troy Sandow (harmonica). Chickenbone doesn’t like to name drop, but looking up his players will attest to their level of musicianship.

13 Slim Man6:00 pm Smooth Jazz $www.ticketmaster.com cover ![]() Slim ManApril 13 @ 6:00 pm Slim Man won Best Jazz Vocalist in 2021 at the Coachella Music Awards. Fifth year in a row. Winner! Winner! Meatball dinner! The Slim Man LIVE at Vicky’s double CD won ALBUM OF THE YEAR at the Coachella Music Awards in 2021. And his new cookbook, Slim Man Cooks Volume 2, was just released in January 2022. So, how did Mr. Man get to this point? Here’s the skinny on Slim Man… Conceived on the Isle of Capri in Italy, he was born in Baltimore, Maryland. When he was 5 years old, Slim Man saw a movie with his dad. That film was The Five Pennies, and when Slim Boy saw Louis Armstrong play the trumpet and sing, he told his Dad, ”That’s what I want to do.” Slim Man studied trumpet for the next 9 years, and taught himself how to play piano and guitar. After studying piano, composition, and harmony at Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD, Slim Man got signed as a songwriter to Motown Records. He’s had songs recorded by the Temptations, Angela Bofill, Carl Anderson, and others. Slim Man recorded a CD for Motown, which gave birth to his signature style–a unique blend of jazz, soul, and pop. Slim Man went on to form the band BootCamp, who had two of the first 100 videos ever played on MTV. Those videos catapulted BootCamp into a successful concert career, performing with The B-52s, Squeeze, Split Enz, Johnny Winter, and others. After BootCamp broke up, Slim Man organized and hosted a nationwide country music talent contest. It was during this contest that he got the nickname Slim Man. Slim’s big discovery during the contest was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at a honkytonk called Tulsa City Limits. The guy who won the contest that night was Ronnie Dunn, who went on to win the national finals in Nashville, and later hooked up with Kix Brooks to form the multiple Grammy award-winning country music duo, Brooks and Dunn. After the Marlboro contest, Slim Man released his debut CD End of the Rainbow. This CD made many Top Ten lists for the year, and inspired JD Considine (Rolling Stone) to write… | 14 Hep Tights w/ TA Tomlinson6:00 pm Blues $5 cover | 15 | 16 | 17 | 18 | 19 Groove Squad8:00 pm R&B $15 cover ![]() Groove SquadApril 19 @ 8:00 pm THE GROOVE-SQUAD is one of the hottest rising bands in San Diego.
