Mitch Polzak Tickets Jan 13, 2023 San Diego, CA | Ticketmaster

The big guy from out West and larger than life energy (he’s also 6’5’) performer, guitarist, singer, banjoist, songwriter, composer, entertainer, musical historian and teacher Mitch Polzak wears his heart on his sleeve and his playing in his heart.Polzak performs rockabilly and 60’s country music with the religious fervor of Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and delivers a Honky Tonk ballad with the sincerity of Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. Mitch will bring a room to a fevered pitch of joyous energy on the dance floor and then tell you a story in a song like two old friends sitting at a kitchen table at midnight.  His virtuosic guitar skills and influences range from the blazing flying fingers of Joe Maphis , Marty Stuart, Roy Clark, and Don Rich to the timeless dreamlike state of “Sleepwalk” by Santo and Johnny along with the vast valleys of deep rumbling twang associated with Duane Eddy.

Described by Rolling Stone as “pure Americana heart and soul”, The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash are the voice and vision of songwriter Mark Stuart. Since forming the band in 1995, he’s performed with most every major artist in the Country and Americana music community. Stuart was personally given permission to use the band’s name by Johnny Cash himself. He was also honored by the Man in Black with an invitation to record songs at Cash’s own home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Two other iconic music legends, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, were also early believers who were instrumental in helping Stuart get his start. With the release of their critically acclaimed debut CD “Walk Alone” in 1999, the Bastard Sons quickly proved they were no novelty act. With strong songwriting and great musicianship, the Sons’ quickly jumped to the forefront of the growing Alternative Country scene. No stranger to the road, their constant touring and hard work have built the band a loyal grass roots following both in the States and abroad. Their music has been featured in film, television, and compilation CDs around the world.

Paul Brown & Gregg Karukas Tickets Jan 22, 2023 San Diego, CA | Ticketmaster

PB:

Double Grammy winner, Paul Brown, both as an artist and producer, is responsible for more that 60 #1 contemporary jazz radio hits!  PB has produced and shared the stage with a who’s-who of music royalty such as Luther Vandross, George Benson, Patti Austin, Boney James, Norman Brown, and Peter White, just to name a few.Collaborations have been plentiful in the recording artist’s career, including his recent album Soul Searching with guitar icon Larry Carlton.

GK: Great melodies; the essential quality that has defined Grammy winning keyboardist / composer / producer Gregg Karukas’ 12 solo CD’s over a three decade career, with many #1 radio hits, both sophisticated and accessible. “Serenata”, his first ever solo piano project, offers romantic impressions of classic songs from iconic Brazilian artists Milton Nascimento and Dori Caymmi as well as new and re-imagined Karukas originals. Coming out of a 4 year hiatus, following the loss of his wife Yvonne from brain cancer, Gregg found the challenges of both the Covid isolation and developing his solo piano voice to be the perfect catalyst for reclaiming beauty, hope and, most importantly, new original music.

Detroit Underground

January 28, 2023 @ 8:00 pm
Genre: Dance
$12 cover

The Detroit Underground  was established in 1994, and still has several of its original members. Over the years the band has earned the reputation for being a hard working, high energy, show band. The group features a very solid and funky rhythm section. These four seasoned players provide a solid foundation for the band’s “smokin” horns.

Topping it off are California’s best male and female lead vocalists. These two high-powered singers will light up the stage, and leave you singing their songs long after you leave the show.

This powerful combination of dedicated musicians gives the band the ability to crank out tunes from artists such as EARTH, WIND, and FIRE, CHAKA KAHN,and STEVIE WONDER. We also play great motown hits and heart-felt ballads.

The Detroit Underground is not just another nightclub act, but a complete musical experience
